What is jorma hynninen?

Jorma Hynninen is a Finnish operatic baritone singer born on August 3, 1941, in Virolahti, Finland. He studied at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, and then joined the Finnish National Opera in 1971. He gained international recognition performing the title role of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin at the Glyndebourne Festival in 1975. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1984 as Count Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.

Over the years, Hynninen has gained acclaim for his interpretations of Wagner, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, and Mussorgsky. He has performed in major opera houses around the world, including La Scala, Covent Garden, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Paris Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

Hynninen has received numerous awards for his contributions to the arts, including the Finnish State Prize for Music and the Pro Finlandia Medal. In 2011, he retired from singing and now teaches at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
